Quilting is a tradition the North American tend to identify with as a utilitarian form of art. The symbols used in this quilt are derived from South American royal texile designs, with appliqued sections applied in a manner typical of Costa Rica. This Quilt is a union of craft traditions in the three Americas, and an exploration of what it means when the word 'American' is used as a description.
